Keeping sight of your objectives

Development and Implementation of Property Strategy

Client:              Dresdner Kleinwort Benson (City of London)

Role:                Project Manager & Business Consultant (Ben Neale)

Approach:      The project objectives were to develop a new property strategy that delivered appropriate accommodation solutions at an  acceptable cost in the short, medium and longer term, and to implement it in collaboration with an internal team and external contractors. As part of the strategy, a major building refurbishment and relocation programme was carried out. It also involved redesigning and re-procuring some property services to reduce on-going costs and improve quality.

Outcomes:      The strategy was approved and implemented within the anticipated timescale and budget with no significant technical issues.

Key Points:     Engaging specialists who want to add value beyond the technical minimum can make the difference between a great project and a good one.

"I write to express my appreciation for the tremendous contribution Alba Management Consultants have made in working with Dresdner Kleinwort Benson to implement the property strategy. The Alba team achieved what it promised, and, where many consultants fail, became a truly integrated part of our team, supplementing the in-house skills in order to deliver the set objectives. This was done in a manner that fostered teamwork and avoided confrontation. It could not have been done without the skills and dynamism demonstrated by, in particular, Ed Smyth and Ben Neale."

Development and Implementation of Business Growth Strategy

Client :            Phadia
Role:               VP Business Operations (Marisa Guitart)

Approach :     This project was set up to address an opportunity to improve the results of Phadia Austria. Following an analysis of all the relevant data, and interviews and working sessions with the country manager and key team members, a revised business plan was developed and approved. The plan was implemented and supported over a twelve month period.

Outcomes :    Implementation of the plan led to a significant improvement in overall results and across the range of established KPI's

Key Points  :  It can be difficult to see clearly in the eye of a storm. A dispassionate analysis of a market situation and market data will usuallly reveal the most appropiate course of action.

"Marisa has a very sharp intellect combined with an ability to translate complex analysis into a clear and understandable overview map for decision making. She is that very rare business executive who quickly grasps the full perspective of any issue and turns her attention to make things happen combined with excellent focus. She has the charisma to motivate those around her.
She demonstrates extraordinary business maturity - a combination of self-confidence, full commitment into what she needs to accomplish and exceptional ability to rapidly identify the priorities and move to practical solutions. She challenges status quo and comes up with additional ideas on how to solve problems or capitalize on an opportunity. She is a team player that you can rely on - in good and bad times.

Karin Walcher, Managing Director Phadia Austria

Approach:    The project objectives were to develop and implement a strategy for BT to obtain new telecommunications business in the growing market for concession projects in the UK under the Government's then new Private Finance Initiative methodology (PFI). This involved collaborating with an internal team to identify market segments, individual project opportunities and strategic partners with complementary skills. Outcomes:   BT successfully entered a number of PFI market segments and secured the major new project known as the Goverment Communications Headquarters (GCHQ).
